The following are questions frequently asked about the CWF. If your query is not answered here, please contact us and ask for further information.

Q. How much does the CWF Appeal raise?
A. The CWF Appeal raised over $2.8m in total across the three appeals in the 2009/10 financial year with a total expenditure on agencies of over $4.3m.
Q. When are the Appeals held?
A. The Appeals are held on the first Sunday in May, August, and November.
Q. What does the CWF Appeal support?
A. The CWF Appeal supports important charitable works of six agencies of the Sydney Archdiocese. These are:
  • Aboriginal Catholic Ministry - promoting reconciliation and mutual understanding and providing pastoral care for Catholic Aboriginals and supporting them in the living of their Faith.
  • CatholicCare - (formerly known as Centacare), the official Catholic social service agency for the Archdiocese.
  • Chaplaincies - providing chaplaincy services to universities, hospitals and prisons.
  • Confraternity of Christian Doctrine - supporting the Catechists in providing religious education in our State Schools.
  • Ephpheta Centre - supporting deaf and hearing-impaired people in the Archdiocese.
  • Seminary - supporting the education and training of future Priests for the Archdiocese.
Q. Is my CWF donation tax deductible?
A. Yes, for donations of $2 or more.
Q. If I make a donation to the CWF directly to the Archdiocese, does it get credited to the quota off my parish?
A. Yes. Please advise CWF of your local parish when making a donation.
Q. When did the CWF begin?
A. Parishes began collecting donations from parishioners on behalf of some of the Archdiocese’s services in the 1950s.
Q. How are funds allocated?
A. Each of the six agencies supported by the CWF submits a budget each year which is reviewed by the CWF Committee. The Committee is presently made up of the Chancellor, three priests, representatives from some of the agencies being supported and two representatives of the Archdiocesan Finance Committee. The Committee considers the budgets that have been submitted and the financial performance of the agencies when making their decisions.
Q. How does my Parish support the CWF?
A. Each of the 140 Parishes in the Archdiocese has an annual quota to support the CWF. Quotas vary from Parish to Parish, according to each Parish's financial situation. Together the Parishes of the Archdiocese raise around $3m each year for the CWF.
Q. Can I donate online?
A. Yes, online donations can be made here.
Q. Can I leave a bequest to the CWF?

Q. Can I specify which agency I would like to leave my bequest to?
